FEDERAL GRANTS

Federal Pell: Federal Pell Grants provide non-repayable funds to eligible applicants and are intended to be the foundation of a combination of awards. These grants may be used for payment of tuition, books and living expenses, but do not cover the full cost of these items. To receive a Federal Pell Grant, a student must be enrolled in an eligible program and complete the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Undergraduate students who have not received a bachelor’s or professional degree may be considered for the Federal Pell Grant Program. The amount of the grant depends on the student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as determined by the U.S. Department of Education through the FAFSA and the student’s enrollment status. The EFC must be determined for each new academic year. Eligible students can receive a Federal Pell Grant for no more than 12 semesters or the equivalent.

Federal SEOG: A Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is awarded to students with exceptional financial need. Federal SEOG is gift assistance and is not repaid. Students must reapply each year. The Federal SEOG is only awarded to students that demonstrate exceptional need as defined by the U.S. Department of Education. To determine need, complete the FAFSA form.

FEDERAL WORK-STUDY

The Federal Work-Study program provides part-time employment to eligible students. Students are paid on an hourly basis at a rate not less than the federal minimum wage. Students must be enrolled in an eligible program. Work-study jobs may be both on and off-campus.

FEDERAL LOANS

Federal Stafford Loans are available at Denmark Technical College. Students must file a FAFSA to determine your initial eligibility. Online entrance loan counseling is required for all borrowers and an entrance interview will be required for first-time student borrowers. Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
