Welding Certificate program prepares graduates to enter the work force with an understanding and practice of three major processes of welding:  Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). They are ready to join workforce in production, fabrication, ferrous and non-ferrous metal welding, and pipe welding.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Students will understand and demonstrate best welding safety practices at the completion of NCCER Safety module in the welding lab.

Students will read and understand blueprints for specific jobs for welders and fabricate from them at the completion of print reading and detail drawing NCCER modules.

Students will test all types of welding procedures to certification standards after welding practice.

Students will perform Oxyfuel cutting process to build muscle memory before learning to weld.

Students will demonstrate groove welding with or without backing using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) in 2G, 3G, and 4G positions.

Students will demonstrate fillet welding in 2F, 3F, and 4F positions utilizing welding techniques.

Students will demonstrate skills needed to apply the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) on both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Students will perform pipe welding in 2G, 5G, and 6G positions near the end of curriculum.
