Denmark Technical College will host the Wild’N at the Den comedy show on Thursday, Aug. 14, at 8 p.m. in the McDuffie Student Life Center. The event is free and open to the public, with doors opening at 7 p.m.
As part of DTC Welcome Week, the show will deliver an evening of quick wit, sharp punchlines and high-energy entertainment from three nationally recognized comedians.
Metchie, a bold and multifaceted performer, is known for her vibrant stage presence and sharp comedic delivery. In addition to her work in comedy, she is a chef and social media personality who blends culinary creativity with humor in a unique way.
Darren “Big Baby” Brand, a comedian, actor, writer and producer from Southern Pines, North Carolina, co-founded the Freestyle Funny Comedy Show during his time at North Carolina A&T State University. He became a frequent cast member on MTV’s “Wild ’N Out” across multiple seasons and is renowned for his charismatic, high-energy performances.
Burpie, whose real name is Jeremy Alsop, is a comedian from Bowling Green, Virginia. Known for his animated style and engaging crowd work, he has appeared on MTV’s “Wild ’N Out,” “Joking Off,” “Last Comic Standing” and “Shaq’s Next All-Star” and has opened for comedy heavyweights like Dave Chappelle, Katt Williams and Dave Attell.
“Bringing the Wild’N at the Den comedy show to campus is about more than laughs,” said Tia Wright-Richards, interim president of Denmark Technical College. “It’s an opportunity to kick off the academic year by bringing our students and community together and building a vibrant campus life.”
JL Porter, Ph.D., vice president of student affairs, shared, “What better way to welcome new students than with high-energy entertainment right here on campus? Events like this help foster community engagement, build lasting connections and enhance the student experience from day one. This is a chance to unwind, laugh together and truly feel at home.”
