Building Construction Fundamentals certificate program provides students with the fundamental skills needed for careers in the carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and residential wiring. It advances candidates in construction or similar trade fields due to the knowledge they gain by learning through hands-on instructions.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Student will demonstrate basic skills involved in carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and wiring for residential construction by end of the course.
Students will interpret blueprint symbols while reading blueprints related to building construction projects.
Students will analyze different situations for using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety protocols to protect from hazards.
Students will identify common hand & power tools in the workshop used in the construction industry.
Students will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to engage with contractors, builder, and clients.
Students will explore career options in the residential building construction industry.
Students will develop supervisory skills needed by subcontractor, residential building contractors, and entrepreneurs at completion of course.
