Dear Denmark Family,
This morning, in observation of Veteran’s Day, I attended the veteran’s memorial dedication and statue unveiling with our neighbors in Bamberg. As I gazed upon the sculpture and listened to the hallowed words of the brave soldiers who so valiantly fought to protect our freedom, I had the opportunity to reflect upon the contributions veterans have made to protect our campus, our community, our state, and our nation.
As I think of the individuals who have put themselves in harm’s way in the name of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, many of whom work and learn alongside us day in and day out, words like excellence, leadership, service, and integrity come to mind, words that are the very core of who we are as an institution at Denmark Technical College.
In this year of unprecedented uncertainty, we know we can trust that the men and women of the armed forces are ready to stand and serve, whenever, wherever necessary. Today and every day we should reflect on the liberties we enjoy because of those brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines. Please join me in paying respect and giving thanks to our veterans for all they have sacrificed so that we may live free.
