Denmark Technical College
Student Scores Highest in South
Carolina
Denmark
Technical College student,
Rochelle Link, was recently
named South Carolina’s New
Century Scholar by the South
Carolina Technical College
System for receiving the highest
All-USA Academic team
application score in the State
of South Carolina. She was also
among 24 students to be named to
the Phi-Theta Kappa South
Carolina All-Star Academic Team.
The students named were
selected for this honor on the
basis of academic performance,
leadership accomplishments, and
service to their colleges and to
their local communities.
Less than one percent of
America's six million two-year
college students have
distinguished themselves with
this superior level of academic
achievement and service to their
colleges and communities.
During the ceremony, Rochelle
received a gold medallion, a
certificate for scholarly
achievements, The Governor’s
Proclamation and The Concurrent
Resolution from the South
Carolina House of
Representatives.
As South Carolina’s New Century
Scholar, Ms. Link will also
receive a $2,000 scholarship and
represent Denmark Technical
College and South Carolina in
opening ceremonies at the
American Association of
Community Colleges Convention,
which is being held in April
2007 in Tampa, Florida.
Rochelle is a resident of
Williston, South Carolina and
currently enrolled in the Human
Service Associate Degree
Program. She is the recipient of
the College President Award,
Alpha Epsilon Psi Scholarship
and the LIFE Scholarship. She is
Vice President of Scholarships
of the Alpha Epsilon Psi Chapter
of Phi Theta Kappa. Miss Link
has served on the Hurricane
Katrina Food Drive at Denmark
Technical College’s Barnwell
Site. She is a member of the
Native Americans for National
Native Heritage Month, Native
American Community Liaison,
Rocky Swamp Native American
Ministries, and a Rocky Swap
Volunteer. |
