Denmark Tech Hits 2,000

In the past year and a half, the new recruiters hired by the institution have done an outstanding job.  The College’s enrollment in early 2007 was approximately 1,371 students.  With new recruiters on board three months, it jumped to 1,577 students, a 206 student increase.

In Fall 2008, the College has an enrollment of 2,270 students.  New partnerships have been established with the school districts, Bamberg Job Corps and other major constituencies within the service area.

Dr. John Waddell, President, stated “We are ecstatic about the work of our recruitment staff.  While the entire Technical College System is seeing an increase in enrollment due to the economy, we are happy to see our numbers rise in a substantial way.”

The group initially met at Denmark Technical College on September 21–22, 2007 for the South Carolina Conference. The most recent meeting was held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham, North Carolina on October 29, 2008. The next meetings will be held on campus and throughout the Carolinas region.

The College looks forward to working with the National Black Farmers as it assists local farmers to participate in the recent $100 million dollar Federal settlement.
