Re: DTC Announces Representative Bamberg as Commencement Speaker
Denmark Technical College is proud to announce S.C. Representative Justin T. Bamberg as the commencement speaker for the 2015 Commencement Convocation. Honorable Bamberg serves the 90th district in the General Assembly representing Bamberg county, and parts of Colleton and Barnwell counties. Representative Bamberg is a native of Bamberg, South Carolina.
At the age of 24, Representative Bamberg received his Juris Doctor from the USC School of Law, finishing the three year program in two and a half years. While there, he served as a Law Student Ambassador, was a member of the USC Trial Advocacy Bar, was co-director of BLSA's Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial team, and was a member of the Black Law Students’ Association executive board. He passed the South Carolina Bar exam on his first attempt, and he is currently licensed to practice law in South Carolina state court and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. He is a trial lawyer with Lanier & Burroughs, LLC in Orangeburg, S.C., and he represents persons injured in catastrophic accidents, premises liability accidents, products liability actions such as motor vehicle defects, trucking, logging, and other commercial vehicle litigation, and wrongful death/survivorship actions.
In addition to practicing law, Representative Bamberg serves on the Board of Directors for the Healing Species, Inc., a non-profit organization aimed at reaching at-risk elementary school aged children and inmates in the S.C. Department of Corrections through compassion education and violence intervention. He is a member of the S.C. Bar Association and serves on its Diversity in the Bar Task Force. He also serves as the Third Vice Chair for the Bamberg County Democratic Party.
The Denmark Technical College Commencement Convocation will be held on Friday, May 1 at 6 p.m. in the William L. McDuffie Student Services Center. The general public is invited to attend.
