Health Services

It is the goal of the Health Services Office to provide care, education and referral services when needed.

DTC’s Health Services Office is located on the main campus in Building 030. It is staffed by a nurse Monday-Friday, 24 hours a day. During weekends a nurse is on call for emergencies. Students do not have to make an appointment to be seen by the Health Services staff. The Health Services Office is equipped to treat most routine out-patient care problems.

Students referred to a physician will be responsible for expenses that are not covered by their personal insurance or school insurance policy. United Healthcare provides DTC students a limited health care plan. The enrollment fee for this plan is included in the tuition. It is mandatory for all full time students to maintain medical health coverage. Students can waive DTC health coverage if proper documentation supports coverage by another medical health insurance agency.

Barnwell County Hospital Emergency Room is located near the campus. Transportation can be provided by the nursing staff when needed. Also, a Bamberg County EMS substation is located 1.3 miles from the DTC main campus.

For any questions or concerns, please call the Health Services Office at (803) 793-5224.
